My starting point is simple: you matter. Your story matters, your experience matters, your desire to heal, grow, and thrive matters. In all of our lives, however, there are times where we need help making sense of our stories and experiences. Whether it is anxiety, a major illness, the loss of a loved one, trauma, or general life transitions, I can support you in gaining a deeper sense of wholeness and well-being.

I am a board-certified Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor in Maryland. I completed my masters-level training at McDaniel College. Since graduation, I have obtained extensive training in attachment, trauma, developmental trauma, and family dynamics and work with children as young as three and their families, adolescents and adults. I have completed EMDR training in order to help you process past traumatic events that are causing you distress in order to help you move forward, heal, and grow into the best version of yourself.

Underneath it all, I am also just as human as you. I am unconventional and understand that life can be messy. I am a world traveler and seek to understand and connect to other cultures and minorities. I am an ally and an advocate. It is my first priority to make our space safe and healing for you. I have been on the other side of the couch. I take an active, supportive, and collaborative approach to work with you and your family to help you heal and grow.

The journey may be difficult, but the healing will be worth it!

Welcome to my profile! I’m passionate about helping clients who have faced challenges in their previous therapy experiences and are ready to embark on the next step in their healing journey. If you have a baseline of coping skills and mental health awareness but struggle to address the root causes of your issues or make lasting changes, I’m here to support you.

One area I specialize in is working with clients who struggle with self-compassion and self-worth. I understand how difficult it can be to navigate life when you feel disconnected from yourself and lack a sense of worthiness. Together, we’ll explore strategies to cultivate self-compassion and develop a stronger sense of self-worth, empowering you to live a more fulfilling life.

Additionally, I have extensive experience in addressing addiction and compulsive behavioral problems. I believe in a holistic approach to addiction, integrating evidence-based modalities to help you break free from destructive patterns. By combining mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, psycho-dynamic approaches, and trauma-informed modalities such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Experiencing, Parts Work, and Inner Child Work, we can delve into the underlying factors contributing to your struggles and support you in making sustainable changes.

In our therapeutic journey together, I strive to create a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is a collaborative partnership, and I will be there to listen, support, and guide you through your unique process of healing and growth.

If you’re ready to take the next step towards creating positive change in your life, I invite you to reach out. Together, we can work towards uncovering the barriers that have held you back and develop strategies to help you thrive. I look forward to being a part of your transformative journey.

So much of our daily life involves interactions and relationships with others. Often these relationships are affecting us more than we realize and may cause difficulties in the home, at work or socially. I am here to help families, couples, and individuals understand how to better manage their challenges such as depression, anxiety, personal loss, infidelity, substance abuse, and self-esteem issues. As a couples and family therapist, I am trained to focus on relational issues as well as the everyday struggles of the individual. Sometimes life just happens to us and we find ourselves feeling discouraged and worn down; it’s times like these that people benefit from having someone to help them navigate these potentially difficult and challenging issues.

While understanding that the future is what we have the ability to change, certain aspects of our past may impact our present and these issues cannot be overlooked. I am here to explore with my clients their world and to find a plan which leads to positive change in their lives. I employ an integrated model of treatment which utilizes Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Inter-generational Family Therapy, Strategic therapy, and Structural Family Therapy.

I have experience working with individuals, couples, and families as well as those in recovery from alcohol and substance abuse in private practice and community mental health settings. My goal is to help you develop clarity and insight to face your challenges and to support you in identifying and enhancing your inner strength and resilience.

Do you feel stuck? Do you often find yourself feeling sad, angry, or irritable? Perhaps you struggle to even know what or how you should feel. When we’ve experienced traumas, we learn to live in fear, doubt ourselves, and question our self-worth. We can even lose our sense of who we are. These struggles might be new, or so old that you can’t remember feeling any other way. Regardless of how you got here, you are ready for change. You don’t have to do this on your own. I have helped many people find their strength, confidence, and a sense of meaning in their lives.

I work with individuals and couples to overcome hurt, anger, resentment, guilt, fear, and loneliness. Using attachment and psychodynamic models, my approach is gentle yet challenging. I focus on revealing your true self—strong, confident, and adaptive. My training and experience are specialized in treating symptoms of childhood and attachment trauma.

Your symptoms may appear as persistent depression, anxiety, anger, or addiction. You may particularly struggle in life transitions or experience issues in relationships. Visit www.jesseludwiglcpc.com to learn more about how I can help you face these challenges. I have particular experience treating therapists and other helping professionals.

Balance is not something you find, it’s something you create.

– Jana Kingsford

Balance is hard. There are often many influences in our lives pushing and pulling us in different directions – work, friends, school, a continued global pandemic, relationships with others, relationships with ourselves. It can be hard to navigate, and it takes incredible strength to reach out and acknowledge needing help. My goal is always to support my clients in defining what balance looks like for them and taking steps to achieve it.

I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW-C) with years of experience helping people find balance. I have a degree in Psychology and African/African-American Studies from the University of Virginia, and I received my Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland in Baltimore. I am also a board approved supervisor for the state of Maryland.

Through the years, I have gained experience with young children (7-10yo), adolescents (11-18yo), and adults (19+). I love to work with people of all ages, but I truly excel at working with marginalized racial and ethnic communities and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. My approach with all clients involves letting them lead because our time is all about cultivating a safe space for them to learn, grow, and find their balance.

Do you ever feel like everyone around you is happy and moving effortlessly through life while you feel overwhelmed, stuck, or just plain unhappy? Do you ever find yourself wishing there was someone you could talk freely with without the worry of being judged?

As a therapist I am here to create a safe and trusting environment that allows clients to unload their thought and emotions while empowering them in a genuine, straightforward and relaxed atmosphere to step into the brave space where they are able to not only find their truth, but speak it, and live it.

My therapeutic approaches include, existential, client centered, strengths perspective, solution focused, attachment based, and mindfulness techniques. We all have unique needs and my integrative model of treatment is tailored to best fit each individual client. This therapy starts with the client learning how to accept where they are in this moment while also knowing they need to identify and make changes to get to where they want to be. It is then when the real work begins. The work of freeing themselves from the persistent negative thoughts and constant societal pressures holding them back from living the life they have always wanted.

During therapy, you will never have to pick and choose the parts of you to reveal, as you will be accepted just as you are. As a sex positive, gender and LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist I enjoy working with individuals and couples facing a multitude of different life challenges. Additionally, I have a clinical interest in supporting those in polyamorous relationships, practicing consensual non-monogamy, kink, and sex work.

Taking the leap to reach out for help is a brave first step. Therapy often challenges and pushes us into that uncomfortable space, but my hope is that you will walk away with a feeling of clarity, identity, and belonging.

Have you ever just wanted to sit down to off-load something that’s been eating away at you for too long? Recognizing the need for help and seeking professional therapy is a sign of strength and determination to live a productive and meaningful life. As a part of living our lives, we may encounter situations that are difficult to manage alone. Some seek support due to a situational crisis. Others seek treatment as a necessary aspect of managing a medical disorder, commonly known as a mental illness. Whether you are experiencing a life adjustment or you’re concerned with more complex medical conditions, it is a well known fact that therapy helps.

As a therapist, I trust the process and recognize that helping clients face and move through painful experiences provides opportunity for growth and transformation. It’s important to me that my clients feel safe, seen, heard and respected. When you develop a relationship with a caring, attuned therapist you will find new ways to solve problems, heal old wounds, and change the way you live life. I am a certified EMDR clinical trauma professional with 18 years of experience in private practice and 23 years of experience in the industry. My work with clients focuses on new experiences, happiness and wellbeing in contrary to other models that aim to reduce symptoms alone. I provide insight-oriented, humanistic, and action-focused therapy treatment for adult individuals and couples. I am also a board approved clinical supervisor in counseling. I work with LGPC/LGMFT candidates and other professionals seeking clinical oversight.
